SC1240A 40A Battery Charger: Choosing Adjustable Charging for 12V Backup Batteries

Selection notes for the SC1240A 40A AC battery charger with adjustable 10A-40A charging settings for compatible 12V batteries.

The SC1240A is a standalone AC-powered battery charger for compatible 12 V battery systems. It provides selectable 10 A, 20 A, 30 A and 40 A charging settings, making it useful for distributors and service workshops that need one compact charger for different charging situations.

Why adjustable charging current matters

A 40 A charger is not required for every 12 V battery. The SC1240A allows the operator to select a lower current when the battery capacity, chemistry or maintenance procedure requires it. The correct setting must follow the battery manufacturer’s charging limit; the highest available current should not be treated as the default setting for every application.

  • 10 A, 20 A, 30 A and 40 A selectable charging currents.
  • 220 V AC, 50 Hz input for compatible 12 V battery systems.
  • 14.2 V DC charging cutoff listed in the product information.
  • Digital display with charging-time indication.
  • Reverse-polarity protection with a visual alarm and fan cooling.

Confirm battery compatibility before selecting the current

The product information specifies a 14.2 V charging cutoff but does not define universal support for every battery chemistry. Buyers should therefore confirm the battery type, permitted charging voltage and recommended current before using the charger. This is especially important when comparing lead-acid, LiFePO4 or other lithium battery applications.

AC charger, not a solar controller or inverter

The SC1240A uses 220 V AC input and is designed as a standalone battery charger. It does not accept a direct PV connection and does not provide AC inverter output. In a solar backup package, it may be used as a separate maintenance or grid-powered charging device, but it should be specified separately from the solar charge controller and inverter.

Information for distributor enquiries

For a quotation, provide the battery application, selected charging-current range, order quantity, destination market and plug requirements. Ask Gerixi to confirm the exact supplied configuration, packaging or branding options, documentation, minimum order quantity, lead time and written warranty terms before placing a bulk order.
