Small Business Solar Backup System with Inverter and Battery

A compact indoor solar inverter and battery backup system for essential loads in shops, offices and small commercial premises.

Technician commissioning a wall-mounted inverter and battery backup system in a small shop

Small shops and local businesses often need dependable power for lighting, communication, payment equipment, security devices and other priority loads. A compact solar backup installation can reduce disruption during grid outages while using available solar energy to maintain the battery.

This indoor system uses a wall-mounted inverter and controller unit connected to battery storage and a protected distribution panel. The visible display gives the operator access to system status, while the equipment remains close enough for routine inspection and service.

Priority loads for a small business

The system should be sized around equipment that must remain operational, rather than every appliance in the premises. Routers, point-of-sale terminals, LED lighting, security cameras and selected refrigeration or ventilation equipment may have very different power and runtime requirements.

Typical system arrangement

  • Solar panels installed on the available roof or outdoor structure
  • Inverter and charging control matched to the battery system
  • Battery storage for the target backup duration
  • Input and output protection for the connected circuits
  • A dedicated group of essential business loads

Choosing the inverter

Continuous load is only one part of inverter selection. Refrigerators, pumps and other motor loads can require higher starting power. Pure sine wave output is recommended for sensitive electronics and equipment that depends on clean AC power. Output voltage, frequency and socket or wiring standards must match the destination market.

Installation and operation

The inverter requires ventilation and suitable clearance around the enclosure. Battery conductors should be short, correctly sized and protected. A qualified installer should separate critical circuits where appropriate and verify the complete system before use.

This configuration can be adapted for convenience stores, offices, clinics, service counters and other small commercial premises. Contact Gerixi with the essential load list, backup duration, battery voltage and quantity requirements for a suitable recommendation.
